The Play
Based on a confrontation between the individual and the establishment, the play tells the story of Oedipus’s daughter Antigone, who defies her brother, Creon’s orders that Polynice, their dead brother, should not be buried since he had joined forces with the enemy. Caught between obedience to the royal word/edict and what she believes to be a higher divine law, Antigone defies the King, paying for her resistance by death.
