The Play

Chakrathi Charkha Sudhi is aimed at creating awareness about peace and justice amongst people, especially youth. The play revolves around the comparison between the philosophies and ideologies of Krishna and Gandhi towards Justice and Peace, and explores the symbols most identified with them - the Chakra and the Charkha. It traces and discusses the relevance of the messages of a mythological icon, Krishna, and the founding father of peace building initiatives, Gandhi, in the contemporary context. It analyses the applicability of these messages for today’s peace activists in Gujarat, the rest of India, and in other parts of the world, and questions the validity of these messages in the context of our day-to-day reality. Provocative and challenging in its content and presentation, the play invites the audience to reach for a common ground that respects and supports plurality.
