The Play

Set in the Indian Christian community living in Bandra, Mumbai, Goodbye Forever is about laughter and forgetting, leaving and loving, families and the human fear of the beyond. After Estelle's sudden and unexpected death, life comes to a standstill for her husband, Derek, and son, Tyron , as they struggle to come to terms with her absence. Tyron’s grandparents, Ruby and Nicholas, try their best to help them cope with their loss, but prove unsuccessful in their attempts to bring them solace and comfort. And then, suddenly, Estelle returns to ease them through this very process. Estelle, whether she is real or imagined, helps all the characters individually, in different ways, to deal with their own special kind s of loss experienced because of her death. And then, finally, it is time for her to go.
Goodbye Forever conveys one of the most basic facts about the human psyche - that death must be accepted before life can go on.
