The Play

Every stone has a story to tell and as time passes by, numerous incidents become a part of history, trapped within the walls of that era. Kshudito Pashan is about a young man’s bizarre tryst with the history of an old palace that once belonged to Muslim rulers. A young tax collector, against the advice of his head clerk, Karim Khan, decides to stay in a haunted palace, which was once the pleasure resort of Shah Mahmud the Second. Here he confronts the spirit of an Iranian girl who had resisted the amorous advances of the lustful king and was made to suffer. Within a short time he is totally under the influence of the hungry stones of the palace and beauty of the Iranian girl. This experience of the two worlds - that of the living and that of the past - pushes him to the verge of insanity. He is made to leave the palace by the well meaning Karim Khan, who convinces him that life, ultimately, must be lived in terms of the present.
