The Play
Lal Baksho deals with terror and its manifestations within the context of everyday lives of different groups of people. It comprises five independent episodes but all with one thing in common - a red box. In the life of middle aged lovers having an extra marital affair it jeopardizes their 15 year old relationship; placed amongst a group of artisans, it affects the unity of the fraternity; amongst co-passengers in a train compartment, it exposes shameful religious prejudices; for a soon-to-be groom it brings out anger against parental pressures and fear; and for the crew and actors of a mega-serial set, the apparently harmless red box carries the seeds of an unexpected shock.
